1. OUR PATIENTS
a. Develop strategic plans for each of our programs groupings including:
- links to other provider organizations
- links to research and education
- medical staffing requirements
- use of priority technologies
b. Strengthen our ability to improve patient satisfaction by:
- implementing patient education infrastructure
- initiating Bayer training program to improve staff/patient communication
- maintaining surgical cancellation rate (for institutional reasons within 48 hours) below 5 %
- maintaining average inpatient occupancy below 88%
- implementing improved wayfinding at TWH and TGH
c. Improve patient satisfaction with pain management to above 50th percentile for Ontario hospitals
a. Maintain staff engagement above the critical zone (i.e., greater than +3) as measured by OSI survey of a sample of staff
b. Enhance our ability to improve staff satisfaction and engagement by:
- implementing leadership development program with Rotman School
- implementing code of conduct
- implementing initiatives identified in recent OSI survey
c. Take steps to have all UHN physicians in alternative funding arrangements
a. Manage building projects to budget and schedule including:
- completion of all planning phases for new ambulatory care facility in Norman Urquhart wing at TGH
- completion of all planning phases for East Wing at TWH
b. Develop revised master plan for all three campuses
c. Begin construction of new facility for research space at TGH
a. To develop a corporate plan for clinical telemedicine and begin implementation
b. Implement Care@UHN initiatives including:
- wireless desktop pilot at TWH
- medication order entry and administration record pilot on 13 and 14 Eaton South at TGH
- centralized electronic patient scheduling pilot at PMH for clinic and diagnostic appointments
- program for physician feedback on test utilization
- physician order entry task force to establish baseline and targets for medication order entry in 2003
c. Develop score cards for corporate, program groupings and core clinical services
a. Implement government advocacy agenda to ensure adequate predictable multi-year funding
b. Strengthen our ability to increase non-government revenues by:
- Developing a plan for accelerating commercialization of intellectual property
- Developing a plan for expanding private pay services
- Publicly launching the UHN fundraising campaign
