"We are dedicated to building hope — by conducting research into brain tumours, our ultimate goal is to one day find a cure."

On May 23, 1997, Gerry Pencer was diagnosed with a grade 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme brain tumour. For the active and effervescent CEO of the world’s largest private label soft drink maker, this was the most frightening and lonely time of his life. Unknown at that time to Gerry, an additional 10,000 Canadians would be diagnosed with a brain tumour that year. During the Image: Pencer support groupcourse of his illness, Gerry sought information, answers, treatment options, and support systems for both himself and his family. When he learned of the lack of readily available resources for brain tumour patients, Gerry set out to change all that. And, like everything he did, he was determined to do it big. Gerry transformed his devastating diagnosis of a brain tumour into the vision for Canada’s most comprehensive, multidisciplinary brain tumour center.

Why a Centre?
The Centre was founded to provide information, treatment and support for brain tumour patients and their families all in one “Centre of Excellence”

Our mission is to provide multidisciplinary care, treatment and support for brain tumour patients and their families as well as promote clinical and translational (related to basic scientific principles) brain tumour research.
