The University Health Network (UHN) is a nationally recognized centre of excellence for training in Psychiatry. Our training goal is to provide advanced clinical and/or research experience in academic psychiatry with an emphasis on education. Through collaborative relationships and with the resources of the Toronto General, Toronto Western and Princess Margaret Hospitals, we strive to create a stimulating and innovative environment that challenges the fellow and nurtures creativity.
Research Fellows plan and execute a research project in conjunction with their supervisor and a committee of intramural and extramural experts. In conjunction with their supervisor, Clinical Fellows will pursue a customized line of training that reflects their interests and skills and may include clinical research. Those whose primary activity is clinical research will be designated as Clinical Research Fellows.
The pursuit of a graduate degree is encouraged in both streams through the University of Toronto. At the end of training, a certificate is provided by the University of Toronto Fellowship Program in Psychiatry. Regardless of the fellowship stream, all fellows are strongly encouraged to participate in the educational activities of the Department including Grand Rounds, research review seminars and manuscript review seminars.
UHN is a University of Toronto teaching hospital and ranks among the world's leading providers of exemplary patient care and innovative research and teaching.
